Chaa Creek’s RTV Rainforest Safari Tour showcases the beauty of the 500-acre nature reserve via an RTV vehicle driven by one of our Naturalist Guides. This off-the-beaten-track experience cannot be missed. The motorized vehicle carries you along rainforest trails to a cohune ridge and through a broadleaf forest that is home to a cadre of wild animals and a plethora of colourful birds.

This educational experience is perfect for families looking to bring along young explorers curious to learn about flora and fauna seen in their textbooks or favourite cartoon shows.

Flora & Fauna you may encounter:

Howler Monkeys are large primates with a distinctive black coat and a prehensile tale. They are native to the forests of Belize and are known for their howling vocalizations, which can be heard for miles. Although they were once residents on our property, their population was wiped out after Hurricane Hattie in 1961. Their numbers were finally restored after a bold move to relocate two troops from endangered areas in the late 1990s was executed by our founders.

Sapodilla Trees: These trees are native to Central America. They are also known as the “chicle tree” because they produce a sap known as chicle, which is an ingredient previously used to make chewing gum before the advent of synthetic chewing gum. In 1912, the chicle industry became influential in Belize’s economy, and “chicleros” were recruited to harvest the sap deep in the jungles of Belize.
