Natural History Center & Butterfly Farm

Since the beginning, founders Mick and Lucy Fleming have sought to instill a sense of wonder and environmental responsibility in guests through unique experiences that bring Belize’s unique ecology, history, and culture alive in a natural atmosphere, sparking intrigue and curiosity.

Chaa Creek’s commitment to sustainable tourism and responsible travel is reflected in its tailored tours that enrich your vacations while the property’s authenticity lies in its growth alongside the Belizean community.

This harmony has become its signature mark.

Natural History Center & Butterfly Farm: Education & Conservation

Community Initiatives alongside the Natural History Center

Chaa Creek has become a hub for community involvement and cultural exchange. We actively collaborate with local communities to provide employment opportunities and support initiatives that promote education and environmental awareness.

Ecotourism should benefit not just the environment but, even more so, the people who call this place home.

Butterflies on the Road alongside Mac Morpho!

Our Environmental Educational Outreach program takes environmental education directly to the schools and many special events throughout Belize. The Butterflies on the Road takes our Blue Morpho Malachite and Owl Butterflies to schools in nearby communities to educate children on the importance of butterflies in the ecosystem.

            Cleanup Campaigns:

Our Naturalist Guides lead this, and it aims to keep Belize’s Macal River and roadsides clean one bag at a time. The Macal River is the lifeline of many communities that depend on its fresh waters to do daily activities such as cleaning, cooking, washing, bathing, etc. It also contributes to providing a healthy ecosystem for flora and fauna to thrive, for humans to enjoy water-based activities, and not to forget its ever-primary role in providing water for crops and livestock.

            Join Us!

Our commitment to these values remains unwavering as we look to the future. We hope to continue serving as a model of what sustainable tourism can achieve, inspiring others to adopt practices that protect our natural world for generations to come.
